Posts: 56 (2006-09-13 19:12:45) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Yesterday I released version 0.21 beta of my current project: TiExplorer. It is a file explorer for the TI 92+ and Voyage 200. At the moment, there isn't a TI 89 version, but this is on my todolist. You may ask, why I started working on a file explorer, since there are many others out there.. The answer is easy: There are some good explorers, but NONE was, at least for me, good enought. I found in every explorer at least one feature, that I missed! So I decided to program my own explorer. As already said, this is a beta version, so not all planned features are implemented, and there may be some bugs. I would be happy if you would test it and report the ones you've found. I am also open for suggestions and/or ciritcs. Here is a short list of the most important features: - Monochrome file browser - Fast scrolling - All standart TIOS funktions (atm move and rename is missing) - Hide and unhide files or folders - Useful infos (memory, time...) - Quik search (jump to the next file which starts with the pressed letter) - Lock calculator - Execution of NOSTUB as well as kernel-based programs (still buggy, perhaps you can help me to make it stable) - Options dialog (with many options) You can find the binaries and the source code at the boolsoft message board or directly here. 3 screenshots: Please post comments or suggestions! Edit: This programm is licensed (like all other boolsoft programms) under the General Public License!

EX_patch relocates the program, this operation is very important (otherwise you'll get a downright invalid binary which reads and writes its variables at invalid locations, if it does not jump to invalid locations priori to writing anything...). But there's so much more to do when trying to execute another program. Perhaps the code of TICT-Explorer can help you (the 1.40 version, with TI-89T support - if the tictex.c code mentions that the crash protection has been a crash production on some versions, it is the correct one)... It is probably on the TICT site, look a few topics down in this section.

Of course I looked at the code of the TICT explorer, but there was too much inline assambly and parts I didn't understand, so I tried to make something with ttstart. I'm planning that the user can specify a launcher for all file extensions, maybe if he executes the first time a file with a special extension. For example: All "TEXT"-files can be started with txtrider, all ppg-files with ttstart and maybe all other non-executable files with a hexeditor.

Posts: 7049 (2006-09-15 15:10:36) Admin Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	The inline assembly you see in TICT Explorer is required to run programs properly. ttstart-universal also has all that stuff. Everything older won't work on the Titanium. (And as Lionel said, current ttstart 2 is 100% assembly.) So you will definitely need that inline assembly when you'll do the TI-89 port because the Titanium's new hardware requires it. And from your description, it looks like your current code doesn't even work on the TI-92+/V200. That's not really a surprise, an explorer has different requirements than a launcher. So you need to be more careful as to when you do what. For example, calling enter_ghost_space, then running the ASM program and then letting the explorer continue executing as if enter_ghost_space had never happened definitely won't work.

Kevin, you remember these matters better than I do TICT-Explorer just ignores the problem by pasting the name of the function on the command-line and exiting. Trust us, it's so much simpler...

Trust us, it's so much simpler... Yes, I know this, and this way is ok for me. Probably I will let the user decide how to handle basic programs/functions.

Posts: 7049 (2006-09-16 19:32:44) Admin Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Report Post	Executing BASIC programs by itself is relatively easy, the problem is when those "BASIC" programs actually run Exec strings or C/ASM libraries like FLib or Vertel, this is a pretty fast way to lock up the calculator (again due to the execution protection). It should be possible to use the h220xTSR method to work around this, even on the Titanium (you need to combine it with the ttstart-titanium trick of adding an unprotection stub to the end of the program), but that's really a PITA.
